This charming Victorian cottage in the Thornhill conservation area in Leyton was in need of some tender loving care and a considered re-configuration of the ground floor layout to create spaces that flow better, are more energy efficient and provide a better link into the wonderfully large garden. The house was extended with a rear and side extension which provides an open plan kitchen/dining room filled with light via two roof lights and large, yellow sliding doors. A blue steel beam highlights the exposed timber joists which gives the whole extension a lighter feel.
